Canton Fair 2023 Wraps Up with Record International Turnout

The 134th Canton Fair concluded on a high note, with a surge in global participation signaling a renaissance in international trade exchanges in China. The event attracted a record 2.75 million visitors, re-establishing the fair as a cornerstone of global commerce.

  • High Turnout: The fair issued 638,000 badges and welcomed an impressive 2.75 million visitors, coming to see over 74,000 booths. Notably, the number of overseas buyers increased by 53% over the Spring 133rd edition. Moreover, the increase in foreign buyers was 6.4% higher than the 126th session before the pandemic.
  • Balanced Participation: Each phase of the fair enjoyed equal and well-distributed attendance, reflecting the wide-ranging interest in its diverse offerings. This could be due to a reshuffle of the exhibition schedules, as well as China’s growing influence in sectors such as new energy vehicles. The “New Energy Vehicles and Smart Mobility” exhibit, previously known as “New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicles,” was particularly popular this time.

Streamlined Experience for Global Traders

The Canton Fair’s success is due in part to the organizers’ considerable efforts to enhance the experience for international attendees:

  • Dedicated Lanes: The establishment of special Canton Fair lanes at airports and ferry ports provided a seamless entry experience. Additionally, the buyer’s badge application process was simplified for greater efficiency.
  • Digital Revamp: Significant updates to the fair’s website resulted in a more user-friendly and visually appealing design, while its social media channels began offering a treasure trove of valuable information, marking a departure from the previously notoriously user-unfriendly online experience.

Expanded Networking Opportunities

This edition truly marked a return to the essence of the fair: facilitating multi-sector global business opportunities. Kinyu CEO Benjamin King met with key industry players from the U.S., U.K., Brazil, Morocco, and Spain in sectors such as home living, sports goods, industrial pumps, bags, consumer electronics, kitchenware, sound systems, and food.

Canton Fair: Moving Foward

The organizers must be undoubtedly pleased with Canton Fair 2023, which has reasserted its position as one of the most crucial and celebrated trade exhibitions worldwide. The fair’s impressive adaptability and resilience are evident, despite recent global economic challenges.

Looking ahead, the 135th Canton Fair, set to take place from April 15 to May 5, 2024, promises to be another landmark event. See you there!
